China Coast Guard and Patrol vessels

Not too long ago some one suggested that China CG could use 056 hull for their new ships. Here is a modified 056 hull China CG ship. Chinese internet think that this ship will be used for customs duties.

Any reason the 056 hull would be better suited for customs duty? Is it built to military standards? Would it simply be cheaper to build all future 1000 ton class CG vessels with the 056 hull due to scales of economy?

I am not really surprised.

The PLAN is having great success with this hull for littoral duties...and that type of duties is a nice sync with the Coast Guard.

Makes a lot of sense for them for this size vessel.

I wonder why we haven't gotten any recent photos of the almost finished 12k tonner at JN...

I bet it should have been launched by now.

Any specs available for these vessels?

CSB 9004 is a salvage tug design from Dutch company Damen, 1400 tons, 3500 horsepower, 30 day endurance.

CSB 8002 is Damen DN 2000 design, 2500 tons, 4 Caterpillar C3516C diesel electric for propulsion at 21 knots max. 90m length, 14m wide. All equipment imported from Netherlands. assigned to Coast Guard Region 2 facing Paracels.

Understood and my thoughts are along those lines which is why I wonder if all future 1000 ton class CG hulls will simply use the 056 hull for scales of economy? Not to mention if they ever needed to arm them heavily, it would be advantageous to have the same hull types.
