The Great Indian Nuclear Submarine Saga

@Jeff Head you must surely read this.
Thank you.

I believe that India will end up with both Akulas, and that they will principally be used for carrier escort duties, though they are good for any submarine mission. This pic of the Chakra during trials is one of my favorite pictures of her:

While I would need to refer to a link to get those, one of the most important ones is shown right there
in the picture - the goliath crane. Modular construction methods were still very primitive at MDL when
P-15As' hulls were built.

The construction of the hull was clearly NOT the reason why P15A was repeatedly delayed, so the adoption of this 'goliath crane' makes little difference. It was India's lack of ability to integrate the various imported subsystems that delayed the project for so long.

The question I have for you is this: what are these 'new methods' that you are 'sure of' have been adopted in the area of system integration that would speed up the development of P15B?

It wasn't the only reason, but it serves it increase the efficiency & speed of building the hull & superstructures anyway.

I never said anything about system integration - we are yet to see what they have introduced there. I was only
talking about the hull which I can see in the pictures. However, being greatly similar to P-15A in most aspects,
it is logical to estimate much shorter integration times for 15B.

India asks Russia to upgrade two submarines

India has asked Russia to upgrade two its submarines, director general of the Rubin Central Maritime Design Bureau Igor Vilnit said on Friday.
"The Indian governments filed a request to the Russian Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation to extend the life of two Russian Kilo Class submarines (Type 877EKM)," he said.
Specialists of the Zvyozdochka ship repair centre and the Rubin design bureau are expected to leave for India to inspect the first submarine.
"We're optimistic about military technical cooperation with the new Indian government," Vilnit said.

So could you please provide a link that talks about these 'new methods' that you spoke of?

The new yard, on which MoD spent over Rs. 800 crores to set up, came online in June 2013. In the words of one
of the shipyard authorities :

“The capability to lift 300 tonnes is what makes modular shipbuilding possible. For decades, we have worked with 40-tonne cranes,” explains Battacharjee.
