Exactly. Just a few short years ago these sort of deployments were seldom accomplished of by the PLAN.

Great pic, while clearly a Sigma class, the similar size and shape provides a glimpse of what a Type 071 sailing with a Type 056 would look like.

When I first saw the photo I thought the sigma was an 056, lol!

It would be nice to get a family photo of the PLAN's major modern ship classes for the qingdao naval review.

Start from 022, 056, 054A, 052C/D, 071, and then liaoning.

And maybe in the next naval review for the PLAN's 70th anniversary they can add in 055.

That's a stunning picture of the Type 071 LPD it's looks squared away maybe too squared away but never the less a great shot

Now let's hope we can see what these ships were built for let's see them carry them 4 x Z8 and 4 x LCAC and maybe a few more WZ-10 helos on that rear deck and some serious activity going on surely they don't want to parade these ships around for too long

Don't know why China stopped the production but now we could have had 3 more in the water of they continued production

Maybe China is working on the 071A model that incorporates latest technology and lessons learned from the various deployments?

I was just thinking about the Type 071 LPD and under what circumstances we could expect to see it with the Liaoning carrier strike package

We have already seen the task force which included the Type 071 LPD but we know that was for the cameras in a realistic scenario I can expect a anti-piracy task force built around a LPD and DDG/FFG plus a Replenisment tanker and if they are out there or on there way back they could hook up with a Chinese carrier strike group and do some excercises

That would mean they could have

1 x CV
2 x DDG
3 x FFG
1 x SSN
1 x tanker

Plus

1 x LPD
1 x DDG/FFG
1 x tanker

Altogether that's 11 warships from one navy and a very powerful naval force indeed I do hope we see such a force somewhere in the Indian Ocean in the coming years

hahahahahah, 056 is a bit lighter than Sigma but they are in the same class and have similar size. Sigma has 2 x quad MBDA Mistral while 056 has 1× HQ-10 8-round SAM launcher, both have 4 AShM (4 C-803 vs 4 Exocet), so quite similar fire power. I know they have different missions and objectives.

I bet Sigma is 2-3 times more expensive than 056 (indigenous and import also is an important factor)

So, actually 056 is much better value for money

Once again Type 071 LPD has thrown a surprise

See that frontal main gun on the right so the entrance for the vehicles is quite towards the front of the ship

The only opening at the front is the one which I thought was for the RHIB I was mistaken there is another opening which leads to the compartment which lies infront of the well deck as a matter of fact there is two compartments infront of the well deck one above each other see below

This is looking from inside the well deck into the front bottom compartment

This means vehicles can go in from the side and reach the lower and upper compartment as well as the well deck interesting very interesting it's just a shame they can't reach the upper flat top rear deck where the helo lands that would be good
