Is that 196 days underwater continuous for a single deployment?

This is why bubbleheads have good sign on bonuses before heading to BESS, Nuke A school or NNPTC. There is NO WAY I can go that long cramped in that metal boat and not seeing the sun or even the sea for months!!!

LOL at some of the readers' comments and China's effort and utter motive some of them claimed! Mostly unprofessional comments.

More Information Were Declassified by this CCTV program:

In past 42 years, no nuclear accident;
World records: 90 days submerged mission, deepest dive;
Successful decommissioned old nuclear submarines;
Nuclear submarines will join carrier battle gruop.

Watched the program.

After watching, found that inside the "092" are mechanics and manual opearated machines which are more like Soviet era subs than a modern sub. But I have no doubt about modernisation of the SSBN fleets of PLAN into modern subs with much more modern and advancement in electronics, navigation, firing, communications. If there isnt any advancement now, then there would be not this declassified "092". So there would be new technologies on 094 I conclude.

However, that would be in another 42 years later before we could see the advance in the new 094 subs and so on...

The 092s are being decomissioned, right?

I don't think so ... it has been declassified ... two different things.

I believe China has 2 active 092 SSBNs. Still very useful against any country in the region. Each 092 carries 12 JL-1A SLBM with 2,500 km range.

No Asian country (even India) has operational SSBN let alone better than 092. Remember China has had 092 since 1981 (091 in 1972) when China was so backward and poor country ...... imagine now in 2013!

China' GDP in 1982 was only $281B compared to its GDP in 2012 $8.2T .... almost 30x bigger!
