Besides the already known project in close cooperation with TOM Cooper and Harpia Publishing ... here's another piece of possible interest to You:

Dragon's Wings by Andreas Rupprecht

Hardcover: 224 pages
Publisher: Ian Allan Publishing (October 4, 2013)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1906537364
ISBN-13: 978-1906537364
Product Dimensions: 27.9 x 21.6 x 1.8 cm

As China continues its rise as a world power, there is growing interest in its military aviation. Very little has been published in the past on the subject because of the difficulty of obtaining information, but aviation authors Tony Buttler and Andreas Rupprecht have been researching this subject together for a number of years, both from the perspective of their interest in the Chinese aircraft and also through an interest in Chinese secret aviation projects. They have now amassed enough material to put together a book on Chinese fighter and bomber aircraft development since Mao's Communist Party took control of the country in 1949. The book examines the design and development of the country's major military combat aircraft (fighters, bombers, attack aircraft, antisubmarine) since the industry became established after the Second World War, plus a good number of design proposals which, for whatever reason, were rejected or abandoned. The text is supplemented with photographs, line drawings, and color artwork of the aircraft.

I hope You won't be disappointed with that book and overall I need to say THANKS a lot  to so many here ... attached is the final cover design and for all interested a preview of the contents !

I hope You like it ...

Just checking the final pdf ....

Deino
I like it a lot.

Where can we get one?

Another great resource (if you haven't done it already) would be a similar book called "Sea Dragon," or something like that, about the PLAN vessel growth in design, quality, and modernization.

Thanks Jeff for Your interest and let me try to answer Your questions one after another.

I like it a lot.

To admit ... me too, but I also have to admit that I expected a much larger volume with many, many images more and even more side profiles for each and every type, but that would be much too expensive - since I had to pay for all images & artworks by my own (as such this book can't ever gain as much as I spent ! :() - and even more too long. The book as it is right now concentrates therefore on the research, the text and information and has only 192 pages. It therfore was cut and shortened in certain parts but anyway I like it better than Yefim's book on the same topic and that alone was my goal. ... who want's a nicely illustrated extended version might buy this one as often as possible and beg the publisher to do a second issue with much more images, artwork and so on.

Anyway I'm quite glad & satisfied with the result so far.

Where can we get one?

As far as I know right after it is published - and that's still open - it will be available directly via Ian Allan's HP (

Sorry, but that will definitely not happen !! First of all I have to THANK my wife & my family for her patient .... two books within two years was a much harder task than I once expected and as such I promised her that this was my final book (at least for the foreseen future) ... I will therefore concentrate on shorter reports for "Combat Aircraft Monthly" and second it needed years to get that knowledge on Chinese aircraft and the aviation scene and I’m sure I still do not know everything and there are still black holes left to be uncovered later but to get the same amount on the Chinese naval warfare and the ships as well as the naval Orbat, that’s way beyond my ability. … but maybe You … ?

Cheers, Deino

Final update ... after some additional negotiations, the publisher agreed to add some more changes I suggested and even expand the book to its originally planned size of 224 pages ... as such I just submitted my final corrections and if everything goes well, the book will be at the printer next week to be out in early September !

Thanks to all involved and I hope it was worth the efforts.

Yes it is the same book, but the cover was changed - or better to say the publisher sent this one at Amazon as an "advertisment" or teaser before he sent it to me ... and I asked them to change it because I did not like it !
