I think what Chengdu has to do is to make J-20 more SEXY, so that all guys around the world would woo J-20 rather than F/A-XX.
Perhabs you knows more about the background of this article more than i do (i dont navigate chinese internet) but this article doesnt mention WS-15 anywhere. Perhabs people assume it is WS-15 that is being tested, but WS-15 isnt mentioned in the article.
Even if this is WS-15, that means that WS-15 is still in simulator tests, and that it still hasnt been tested in flight. But this is speculation at this point.

Oh my....perhaps Boeing is jumping on the J-20 bandwagon lobbying Congress for more fighters, now that they already pulled the plug on further F-22s.
Perhaps Chinese deployment of canard-equipped fighters (stealthy and no) can prove to be a boost for Boeing's controversial (american-wise) canard-concepts? ...Especially if J-20 proves to be a manoeuverable AND stealthy concept, which its critics has denied it.

anyway, all NGAD/F/A-XX and F-X concepts we see are just what we allowed to see and have as much resemblance to current real iterations as ATF flashy artist impressions we saw in late 80s

Oh Wow, I just picked myself up off the floor, and Boeings, well lets just say thats the best looking concept aircraft since the F-15, and I hate canards and tailess aircraft......
