Although we have a movie thread already, I'd figure it's not a bad idea to have a specific Chinese movie thread, especially one on Chinese classics
With that said, let me start this thread off with one of my favorite all-time classic.

This one's called "A Chinese Ghost Story", or 倩女幽魂.
It's produced in 1987 starring Joey Wong and Leslie Cheung. Both are nothing less than perfect in playing their roles, and especially with Leslie's acting. The duo when put together made a perfect couple. Leslie plays the main male lead as the scholar who has a very good nature(honest and kind-hearted), who gradually falls in love with a female ghost. Joey Wong plays as 聶小倩, the female ghost. Joey Wong also can't play this role any better; depicting a lonely ghost with a very sad past, yet remains good. You can almost see or feel that sorrow or sadness from how she depicts herself.
The love for both characters in this movie is very touching, but the sad ending where they can't be together made it even more tragic.
The third character will be a Taoist priest who raps and have very amazing evil-fighting power. All 3 plays their roles well, although granted the story primarily focuses on both Leslie and Joey, their romance is the major highlight. Both theme songs also really fit the movie, especially Sally Yeh's singing near the end of the movie. Adding it with the ending, it creates a very emotional and sad-provoking finish to this lovely couple.
If Sun Diao Xia Lu(Condor Heroes) about Yeung Guo and Dragon Girl represents a happy ending, this one plays a sad ending.
