This is call probing action. It is NOT DEFENSIVE nature at all by US military. They are testing and trying to probe, where is the line of attack and where is Iran defensive weaknesses. Once you have weaknesses, then you be attack on that weaknesses. Probably technology testing, radar testing, distance and launch attack testing. What surprise Iran didn't do or they should do those same testing. Probing where is US current weakness, any opening of their ships, planes etc and attack those position as well. This is how Ukraine does it to the Russian forces and black sea fleet....once found weakness, just execute. Told you guys all those nonsense peace, diplomacy etc....Pentagon is still planning an verifying how the attack can be executed and this are just the testing for next bigger actions.
I recently read also the current Iranian President Pezeshkian, seems eager to open up the "internet". Why, because internal traitors need to pass messages out once you have open web and allow connection to wider "internet". All these internet stuffs are bullshit. Each country should have their own control of info/messaging in out, some sort of system traffic monitoring/control. There's no real freedom in the world be it people, animal, information or data. Each pass thru certain control seen or unseen. You think the VPN, internet, star link access you see and use right now are not monitored thru some sort of undersea cable spoofing/sniffing devices. Forgot about Edward Snowden? Come on ppl, all are pass thru and monitored bunch of data running around pick up by and monitored by various intel unit of the world. Is just whether you are important enough to be monitored....

I guess raad at work(SARH illuminator guided by optics). But we saw it many times already, their optical(IIR) tracking fails, every time or nearly so.
How's failing here? Track seems ok.
