Whenever a Russian tank video arise, there's always this question about whether Russia is running out of tanks. Answers are.
Answer 1. There's always a constant resupply. When you have videos pop up like these, it's a response to yet another batch delivery. While tanks from storage are restored, damaged tanks are continually being repaired and new tanks are being produced.
Answer 2. It doesn't matter any more. This war can just be fought with drone crews and storm troopers ridding around in pickups and vans. Infiltration not invasion is the key for a breakthrough. Instead of tanks, troops are infiltrating using ATVs and motorcycles. ATVs have become more important than AFVs. ATVs are also being used for rotation, resupply and reinforcement. The war has turned drone centric and infantry centric. It should be noted that ATVs and motorcycles are increasingly turning electric to prevent noise and detection.
Answer 3. You don't need tanks now as many as you think, and neither are they used that much anymore. Even when tanks are used, tanks have been relegated mostly as self propelled artillery, damage soakers, infantry support, mine clearance and even vehicle recovery. What you need now are self propelled howitzers, self propelled mortars, mobile SHORADs, APCs, IFVs, MRAPs, and armored trucks. The APCs and IFVs are now there to exploit openings discovered by infiltration squads that came in using bikes and ATVs. Then there's the fundamental issues. Due to the terrain, the weight of the tank can become more of a hindrance to mobility. When it comes to urban fighting and fighting around hills, the limited elevation of the tank gun is another hindrance. There's a reason why the autocannons or even the cannons of BMPs feature extreme elevation angles. The sound of the tank tracks, the dust it raises, makes an armored column an easy giveaway. There's a reason why wheeled vehicles are now forefront. Speed, shock, and stealth has become as much as life as armor.
