As per the above press briefing by the Dy. ACM, the key takeaways are:

  1. Next-generation fighters
  2. Additional J-10Cs
  3. More advanced JF-17 variants

He also mentioned that the groundwork has already been completed for the induction of the above platforms.

Regarding the “more advanced JF-17s,” which block/variant is he referring to?

It seems upgrading the Block I Á models to something like Block II level.

PAF Delegation Visits Dhaka for First-Ever Air Staff Talks with Bangladesh

A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) delegation led by Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed visited Dhaka from 10 May 2026 for the first formal Air Staff Talks between Pakistan & Bangladesh.

Discussions reportedly included potential acquisition of JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets by the Bangladesh Air Force, along with broader cooperation in pilot training, conversion programs & technical assistance.

The PAF also presented a JF-17 flight simulator to the Bangladesh Air Force & offered advanced pilot training at PAF Base Mushaf in Sargodha.

Based on the above report, the table has been updated. Effectively, the PAF now operates only Block -IIs/IIIs.

Additionally, based on the report below, the AzAF order has now been confirmed (40 units); accordingly, the table has been updated.

Now that the initial BLK-III order has been completed, it will be interesting to see how the “more advanced version” evolves in light of the recent statement by the Dy. CAS.

Are there any good images of the azerbaijani JF-17s apart from the known (and fairly distant) airfield picture?
