It is rumored that AEP500 has been soft cancelled/put on hold, It's just AEP400 and WJ-10 for now. Of which the latter is basically confirmed to have a rating of 3800kW (Similar to highest power rating of WJ-6 variants). Which would also mean Y-15 likely won't have a payload capacity any larger than Y-9 at 25t.
this year Zhuhai air show will confirm. from past few years AEP-500 model consistently appeared in all airshows.

but here slightly disagreement with you regarding Y-15 payload capacity.

taking data from your above post. ''WJ-6C on Y-9 has power output of 3400KW only but this new WJ-10 has 3700KW-3800KW. It is expected to be atleast 30 percent lighter in dryweight compared to WJ-6 while also having atleast 25 percent less PSFC at cruise. benefits of lighter weight Engines are improved fuel efficiency, better payload and range. so being a clean-sheet design Y-15 is far superior product in comparison with Y-9 using advance manufacturing method and materials. all these things matter in payload capacity.

Y-15 program initiated just to replace ancient Y-9 with modern kits like Engine , avionics and advance materials.

Excerpts from two academic papers, posted by SOYO and @金陵1995 on Weibo (with the latter coming from AECC Shenyang).

Could be indicative of/hinting that the domestic turbofan engine for the C909 is in the works, whether as a revived AEP500 or some new project (e.g., further derivative of the CJ1000A).

CJ-500 has always been the less important project. the main reason behind it, Return on Investment (ROI). there weren't not much order of ARJ-21 that encourage them to spend money on brand new engine. this engine was put on hold in 2021.

now this new development is really interesting. i believe current geopolitics played major role in this decision.

Civil aviation include commercial Engines will be the top priority in 15th Five year Plan.

If true, then I’m amazed that they didn’t factor in geo political issues while making such decisions in the past. Seems many in the party still thought the US/West will let them rise to the top peacefully. lol Despite all the talks of sanctions and restrictions put in place since Trumps first term in 2017. So I’m surprised they didn’t factor this in their calculations.

Sorry, I was meant to say CJ-500, not AEP500.

An engine like the CJ-500 is not a difficult product to develop, does not push any technology envelopes, and is not a category of engine with a lot of domestic demand right now. This has nothing to do with geopolitical perceptions of the West. It’s just a basic resource management decision.
