I'd say most likely it is a crane.
  1. The tail is too high and too big. I think PLA want soldiers to be able to load manually in case of autoloader failure and damage. Thereforthe breach must be low enough.
  2. There are hydrolic legs between the two wheels in the front. Crane needs them but a gun doesn't because the recoil force isn't reaching that far ahead.
  3. There seems to be no foldable 驻锄 at the end.
  4. The long arm seems to be too boxy and thick for a barrel.

It is literally just a crane, the barrel picture is for this. IMO at this point it feels more like wishcasting than anything unless new info/picture surface.

What’s the purpose behind having this many barrels? Do they fire simultaneously to compensate for accuracy loss or independently to reduce barrel wear?

From descriptions, its meant to be a CWIS type air defense. So presumably they fire simultaneously to provide blanket coverage. May be similar to what the Japanese are trying to do but with higher firerate.
