in February as part of talks seeking the safe passage of Indian‑flagged or India‑bound vessels out of the Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz, three sources ‌with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

Indian authorities seized the three Iran‑linked tankers near Indian waters alleging they had concealed or altered their identities and were involved in illegal ship‑to‑ship transfers at sea.

Tehran has also sought supplies of certain medicines and medical equipment, according to one of the sources, an Iranian official.

Iran’s ambassador to New Delhi met Indian foreign ministry officials on Monday to discuss the issue, the source said.

The sources declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Israel’s Defence Minister Katz says Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani has been killed. The Israeli army also said it killed Basij force commander Gholamreza Soleimani in an attack last night. Iran has not commented on the claims yet.

At the end of the day, this is a golden opportunity to witness modern warfare first hand. It doesn't cost SK much politically or materially to send a pair of destroyers there in a purely air defense role. The experience in defending against drones in a congested battle space is something that is invaluable for SK.

To actually benefit from battle experience, one first have to survive the battle, and that’s far from guaranteed at this point.

This is a real war, America doesn’t need those allied ships to just show the flag for moral support, it needs them to actually fight on the frontlines of a high intensity war against modern weapons. For that to work, you need a single unified chain of command, because if you need the flank of your fleet defended, you need it done immediately and not have it be a request that need to be sent up the chain of command in a host of nations to individually make their decisions in 2-4 business days.

What is certainly demanded but not highlighted in the reporting is that the US would want any warships its vassals sent to be placed firmly under the command of the U.S. local commanders. And I think that is the key deal breaker for all its vassals. Because if you give the Americans command of your fleets, what’s stopping them from sending your ships in as the first wave to soak up all the pain and losses?

Israel has been pretty consistent with these kinds of claims lately. We’ve also seen Iran stay quiet or deny at first, only to confirm later. I think he’s dead.
