new material on the superstructures, which have significantly reduced RCS. They also uses new radar, which significantly increased detection range vs stealth aircraft. Improved propulsion system has higher thrust and power.
Made space for future weapon development like DEW.

They use CGT-30 instead of CGT-25. 35 knot top speed is now achievable in all ambient temperature conditions.
did we have this confirmed previously? I just wasn't sure this was confirmed news.
Also, if they say it has higher power generation then presumably the smaller GT for power generation also got upgraded.
Thought the small ones are diesel engines instead of miniature GTs. And yes, upgrading those should be comparatively much easier.

There were speculations that 3MW diesel engines are used for power generation so total of 18MW electricity. Still more than other current destroyers though.
Why do all Type 055 destroyers still use the small and ancient Z-9? Even the newest ones still have it. I imagine the main threat PLAN faces would be submarine. This seems like a really poor choice. Below is a video I found that includes news footage showing a Type 055 still operating the Z-9.
