AFAIK seems to be missing the entire frontal armor array, you can see how the roller is sticking out in the front.
How the hell do you let your windows get this dirty? I can't even tell if a barrel is sticking out or not.
I say this is a test rig to trial a 7 wheel configuration. Look how much space there is on the ZTZ100 compared to this 7 wheeled one, which is very closely packed.
I actually think this indeed might be the heavy/heavier version. Combing through older photos of this thread, this chassis seems to be based on the 7 road wheel rig with similar road wheel gaps but with complete side armor. The longer track contact patch, double pin tracks and different road wheels also suggest that this might be heavier.
The slope of the upper front glacis is also much more gradual and seems to start above the second road wheel as opposed to the first road wheel in the ztz-100. The lower front glacis is also much more vertical and meets the upper glacis well above the front sprockets. Much similar to the early test mule below, which leads me to think that this might be a different hull design, but possibly built with certain parts commonality in mind.

We kinda already have that, and the SPG probably won’t need the thick side skirt armor:
That has been said to be a export vehicle. It makes alot more sense to standardise the Type 100 chassis for domestic service.
