For a gacha game, or for any game, Arknights has a unexpected but real life inspiration. Why is the MC called the Doctor? Why do they go around treating people? Despite their charities, why are they heavily armed? Why is the moving landship is named Rhodes Island? Why is the logo of Rhodes Island a castle? During the Medieval times, Rhodes Island in Greece was the headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller, an Order of knights and doctors that seek to treat both poor and pilgrim alike and will not turn away even wounded enemy soldiers as per the Hippocratic Oath. Hence the name Arknights.

A better question is why do they employ

From a game design perspective, Endfield, at least the first map, is a complete disaster.

I've never seen such a disjointed, verbose, and ultimately uninformative tutorial map, and you can't skip it. The story is utterly unremarkable, including the characters' personal arcs. The presentation is also still at the level of Genshin Impact; for example, skipping dialogue requires waiting for cutscenes, and the protagonist lacks any standout moments (very little voice acting, just standing around gesturing, etc.).

The protagonist of Genshin Impact is often mocked as an incompetent speechless yellow-haired camera, while Endfield is a competent yet equally uninteresting carbon-fiber-masked black-haired camera.

Yes, I know WuLing would be much better, but I simply can't stand it for that long. It's even worse than Wuwa 1.0. Wuwa could be excused by a 1.0 story overhaul, but these problems with Endfield were repeatedly mentioned in tests a year ago, and no improvements have been made. Devs seem to be putting all their improvements on Wuling without considering whether players can even tolerate that long. It's 2026 not 2020, players' standards have risen significantly.

There's something about Arknights Endfield that's given me vibes about another game long ago.

Perhaps it's about discovery and colonization of a new planet, with a new colony base. The costumes, the races, the weapons, the classes and abilities. Ah I missed that feeling so much.

Is it me or did Hoyo inadvertently revealed the true colors of the protagonists of their two top grossing games, all in the same time in the end of the year:

1. Who or What Paimon really is?

2. Who or what the Traveller twins really are?

3. What Teyvat really is.

4. Who or what the Heavenly Principles are.

5. The truth about the Trailblazer, the Path of the Trailblaze and it's connections to the Finality.

Still waiting for Ananta. Devs seems to got entangled into development hell. Hope they got through it, same as CKR (Chasing Kaleidorider).

For those i play so far.. Snowbreak delivers, peak. 2.5 Years anniversary means marriage patch and we got Acacia and Marian. Also soon new character will join, Lizzie from Chapter 15 and a mommy fox named Long Yan from the latest story chapter. below is from the story ending. I found this latest chapter Enriching.

Snowbreak devs commitment on ML (Master-Love) Path is admirable as always. It might look extreme but after things at "sands of secret" chapter, seems necessary.

The other thing is GFL-2 which for some reason instead of starting corposant event (Voymastina) it gave us Sakura instead which kinda make me wonder what MICA is thinking for Global story timeline (as this dont match CN)

Yes more or less Arknights Endfield is really a colonization game, and you're real purpose and end game is to make the world safe for the colonizers. All this exploration, travel, base building, network building, it's for this purpose only. Collecting characters can be secondary to that task. The six stars are there to pull on your wallet, but it's the five stars that's going to be your work horses. The four stars are there for the early game. You do not need to pull for every six star, be strategic with your gachas, resist hype and temptation, and just target the one you truly must want with enough pulls, 120 will guarantee it, and with enough patience you can accumulate enough or obtain a major portion of it from free play. With enough rolls, there's going to be enough collateral drops for the fives to build up the team from dupes. You can also roll for the standard banner which has a handful of other six stars, and which got my interest more at the moment.

The game feels like a JRPG as the maps are a complete and utter mess but are designed to go through like puzzle and challenge the way you build your bases and factories. This isn't an easy game in contrast to something like HSR where navigation is full of obvious clues around, or like Genshin, where you jump and glide around. You are going to have to strategically build a network where you can zip from one post to another, locate these posts so to connect your bases and factories.

As for the combat, because every combatant is simultaneously on the field, this is more of a deck builder, but with action. Hence why you must build foundation decks of teams from your four and five stars.

Well when everyone was accusing Nod-Krai of being a filler region for MiHoYo to make more money and they likewise insisted that Nod-Krai was necessary to fill in lore gaps, turns out they weren't kidding.
