On the other hand, beyond M2.25 the heat will start to degrade aircraft skin as composite materials are actually sort of a glorified plastic. Beyond Mach 2.5 chemical decomposition starts. Theoretically ws15 equipped J20 can fly to M2.8 from some ancient papers, but It's not going to fly at that speed while still being intact. Afterburners will be used extensively during takeoff and during aggressive cranking maneuvers but is basically unnecessary when flying in a straight line.
may I see those papers? Stealth coating aside, I thought DSIs can't go much beyond M2

on putting AEP500 or WJ10 on KJ600 and Y15.
E-2C当年做滑跃测试时还装的是4叶桨,发动机功率和E-2D差不多,都是3800KW左右

8叶桨目前只在AEP500上见到过,试飞的WJ10是用6叶桨,所以螺旋桨大胖和600换发版大概率会接着用6叶桨,8叶桨的实物估计要等AEP500装机后才能看到了

WJ10X相比WJ6X具有更高的输出功率+更优秀的可靠性+相对低的油耗+更强的发电能力,所以换发是必然的,换发后的600能有更好的起降性能,在001+002上起降时会更得心应手

但是,决定600上001+002的核心从来都不是“能否起降”,而是600能否在舰上与其他舰载机一起展开持续部署和运作,笼统的讲,就是要看PLAN是否愿意投资以实现大甲板航母的预警机队“全600化”
Re-engined KJ600 can use WJ10 with 6 blade propellers for increased power, reliability, fuel efficiency and power generation. All critical factors, but most importantly, it may allow 001 and 002 to takeoff and land with good payload.

That an old photo?

I personally have not seen that specific angle of the Y-20 engine testbed, although we have seen it in test flight from various angles with that engine before (which should "just" be CJ-1000A based on its visual dimensions correlating with past images of the Y-20 engine testbed flying with CJ-1000A)

All of which is to say, it may technically be a newly released photo but for all we know it may have been taken years ago.
