I’m sure it will host at least a couple of J-35 for each mission, for the simple reason that the marines need air superiority, I find it bizarre that this is a controversial take.
Anyone attempting to do an amphibious landing, where they are concerned about air superiority, are idiots.
You have / seize air superiority, you bomb the enemy round the clock, you remove mines and obstacles, then you conduct your amphibious operation. That’s how it works for non-idiots. Part of a larger system.
What the marines then need, and what 076 provides, is organic close-in (nearby) air support for striking ground targets, possibly helicopters and drones as well.
When you talk about PLA Marine, forget everything about US Marine.
PLA Marine is part of PLA Navy and they have supports from PLANAF from aircraft carriers. And their missions are planned by PLA Navy and any missions would involved all relevant PLAN assets, including aircraft from carriers.
US Marine is NOT part of US Navy, and they have rivalry on prides and ego. US Marine may planned their missions independently from US Navy, and they would prefer their own F-35B rather than the Navy F-35C. Therefore they would rather have their F-35B on LHA to support their missions, which is actuall sub-optimal option considered the shorter range F-35B and limited facilities on LHA.
PLAN-Marine does not need this. Let type 076 and PLAN CV do what they do best.
The USMC is part of the Department of the Navy and so is their budget. Marine Corps F/A-18s, F-35B/Cs (yes they operate CATOBAR jets off CVNs), A/V-8Bs, and helicopters all fly from US Navy ships. The marines all disembark from USN ships too (or aux fleet).
