It seems a platform like that would be good for rolling out the latest propulsion and RCS-reduction technology, without spending on a larger hull. Would PLAN formations benefit from more pickets and liason ships?

I am writing a book about first generation of chinese diesel subs, many questions occur. Two of the them are hard to solve:
1) Were all Romeos of type 033 fitted with two 6E390C engines or the latest samples were given more mighty 6E390ZC-1 ?
2) Do I understand correctly that the latest variants 035G and 035B of Ming class were given 6E390ZC-2 engines?

Probably kind of a stupid question, but is it possible, and would it be a good idea to put a DF-21D inside of a ballistic missile submarine?
An Anti Ship Missile in an submarine is redundant. A tactical ballistic missles aka DF-41 would make more sense.
YJ-17 & YJ-20 in the VLS cells of 093B SSNs + YJ-18 & YJ-19 in the torpedo tubes of pretty much all modern PLAN SSKs and SSNs: "Are you for real?!"
