J-10 Thread IV

I would say there is no chance of it happening at this stage even if someone was willing to pay for development. CAC has just way too much on its hands right now in terms of projects to waste time on such a side project that has zero prospects of a major order.

Dedicated EW versions of fighters are exceptionally rare even for major air forces domestic fleets, with only America and China having proper domestic designs and only Australia somehow being an operator as well.

America and China needs them to be on the same playing field against each other. But for everyone else, not having a dedicated EW variant is the default position, so it’s hardly a handicap for the J10 to not have it. Given the size and power limitations, the J10D might be very difficult to develop and not be as effective.
He could be implying J-10D as the next upgraded version of J-10C rather than an EW version.

If there is a large enough buyer, I could see China upgrading J-10C with latest radar and avionics and call it J-10D.

But that large enough buyer should be buying J-35 instead if they have that much money.

I will believe it when I see it in BAF colours inside the country.

I have been seeing the buying J-10 rumours since 2011.

Edit-In High school, I had a J-10 photoshopped with a BAF roundel as my twitter profile pic, that's how embarassing the J-10 saga has been for me. The Airforce kept dicking around for years, after the first J-10 rumours, until they finally did buy some new Chinese birds...... another batch of J-7s......... I have literal PTSD. If news later comes out that Chengdu reopened their F-7 production line so that Bangladesh can buy 16 more F-7BGTVXII, remember you heard it here first.
Hi,
if we go according to buying rumours in case of Pakistan they been dreaming to get it since 2007,
eventually get hold of J10c for PAF in 2022 so on a lighter note you guys still have around another
year or two to wait by the way no politics probably in coming February after elections in Bangladesh
of its a govt favourable to China side chances of J10c are very much in BAF colours
thank you

Me too, we are reading such rumours since years from different sources of varying credibility …

Surely the head of the air force is credible? Not explicit confirmation of J-10 orders, but there is definitely something happening. Personally I still think JF-17 makes more sense for Bangladesh, but nobody asked me.

Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Bangladesh’s top air force officer, announced last month that his country’s interim government had given an in-principle approval for the purchase of “multirole combat and attack aircraft” plus new surface-to-air missiles and long-range radars.

Khan did not specify what type of aircraft the Bangladesh Air Force – the BAF – would procure, but there is a strong likelihood it will be the J-10CE fighter from China. Such an ambition had already been aired when Muhammad Yumus, Bangladesh’s interim Chief Adviser and head of the caretaker government, met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing in March.

IMO a high low mix is what the decision makers would have in mind. JF-17 offers a practical and affordable path to fleet renewal, replacing F-7s. (Workhorse)

J-10ce to be smaller number of elite aircraft to counter the most advanced threats, replace the aging MiG-29s, and provide a qualitative edge.

Focus to be on network centric warfare.

Rafale, Kaan, KF-21, and now they are going to buy J-10. The pressure on Indonesian Air Force logistics and maintenance personnel will be greater than that of the Indian Air Force in the future.
Don't forget the F-15ID. They're going to have to discard at least some of these from their procurement list imo (that is, if they don't get cut off first)...
