Question about the "YY-20A": I've seen various Chinese-language sources refer to it just as the "YY-20".

What's the official designation between the two?

I think it's YY-20, for now. Calling the existing variant YY-20A makes it more convenient to distinguish it from the upcoming re-engined tanker.
