The H-8 bomber was a Chinese military aircraft that was a possible successor to the Xian H-6 twin-engine jet bomber. The prototype aircraft was reported to be an enlarged version of the H-6 with underwing engines, but that the project was canceled in the early 1970s before the bomber went into production. the China military has a stealth bomber called Xian H-8. The bomber has 4 Ws-10A engines derived from Russian and US technology. It is made from carbon fiber and coated with special nanotechnology. well, the Xian H-8 has a max speed of Mach 1.2 and carries stealth missiles in its cargo bay. The bomber also can carry nuclear missiles. China is currently developing stealth fighters like J-XX and J-13 (which is based on the J-10).

It is the world’s second Stealth bomber, and is more advanced than the American B-2. Because the project is top-secret, little is known about the aircraft. It is a Stealth, strategic, and heavy bomber rolled into one. It carries a crew of two. It could fly as fast as Mach 1.4, has a range of 11,000 kilometers (without refuelling), and can carry over 18 tonnes of bomb load. It can carry twelve Stealth cruise missiles (each with a range of 3,000 km) on each of the two weapons bays. It could carry an additional three nuclear missiles (350-kilotons each). The bomber will be mass-produced and will enter active service in the PLAAF by 2010. The bomber will replace the old H-6 bombers that the PLAAF have in active service.

Here are only SOME of the features:
-high-tech blended wing-body design
-fly-by-wire controls
-angled fuselage
-internal fuel tanks.
-carbon fiber and composite materials
-rotating weapons profile bay
-mapping radar, satellite data links and advanced digital mapping systems
-nanometer coating
-4 turbo-fan engines - based on the WS-10A

I got that info from a site recently. If it is true, i would be glad. Currently in the near future, China only has two means to attack carriers. Which are:

1. Low-cost capability to attack carriers: DF-21 ASBMs. However it is unproven technology, making its effectiveness in doubt. Chance of hitting and severely damaging a carrier: 10-20%(My opinion though)

2. Conventional capability to attack carriers: Submarines and surface ships using anti-ship supersonic missiles; However there are many ships guarding a carrier and each ship is armed with lots of defensive weapons SM-2, RAM, CIWS,etc. Chance of hitting and severely damaging a carrier: 20-25%

3. High Cost and High Tech capability to attack carriers: H-8 Stealth Bombers. Such Stealth Bombers, with an unrefuelled range of 6000-8000 kms, low observatility to enemy radar, Mach 6+max speed and equiped with powerful surface-search radar to detect and target enemy ships up to 600kms away and armed with more than 4 Chinese next generation supersonic anti-ship missiles with range of more than 400kms will provide China with the highest probability of sinking a US carrier at 90% probability. Reseraching high powered laser beam cannons with range 100kms and beam focus time of more than 20 seconds to be mounted on such bombers would also help to damage US Carrier's aircrafts and control towers and literally melt the carrier after 20-second beam focus on one spot on the carrier.

China...must speed up the development of that stealth bomber. It is vital to the PLAAF if it wants to deter USA interference in Taiwan issue.:china: It doesn't matter if it takes another 20 years or 30 years for this project to be completed China eventually will need this.

.....

Sorry, ... but honestly without any link or source this sounds again like one of these numerous fan-boy-posts of whishfull-thinking.

Especially since Your picture can't be seen ... and as far as I know all so far "this is the H-8" pictures are bad PS-jobs or even worse CG's.

This is not a place for you to randomly make up numbers out of your head.

first you said mach 1.2, then mach 1.4
i think the moderators should ban this guy. apparently he made everything up, including the specs, then pretending he found that somewhere. he even included laser weapons in his descriptions. go back to your games

How come DF-21 ASBM only has 10-20% chance of hitting a carrier in your opinion. Do enlighten us on how and why you get think so. If this system is such useless piece of weaponry, who do China spent so much in developing? Is it out of national pride or something along the line - "I am the only country in this stinking globe that has it."

Again... why 20-25%? how you get this figure?

Wow... and china can rule the sea... without ship some more... Why don't you say space weapon too... can hit anything on the globe within a couple of minutes? Sound more feasible if you ask me. I mean something out of science friction would sound good in a futuristic novel... and assuming US was at a standstill in technology enhancement.

China...must speed up the development of that stealth bomber. It is vital to the PLAAF if it wants to deter USA interference in Taiwan issue.:china: It doesn't matter if it takes another 20 years or 30 years for this project to be completed China eventually will need this.

So was it to speed up or carry on in her own pace... 20 to 30 years span is awful alot of time. Plus do you actually believe that US is going to be at this state of technology in 20 to 30 years?

Frankly i think that H8 project (mentioned even in a old Jane's article few years ago) it has been abandoned.
There is a possibility that China is working on a almost space bomber, but unlike J-XX this is a classified project (probably because those space weapons are end-of-the-world weapons, and me too prefer don't know anything about it), so even if exist (and we have no proof of it) we won't know, exactly as for the rumored "Aurora" US space plane.

What substantial advantage does a space bomber offer over ICBMs with multiple warheads?

I guess the advantages are mainly ASAT capabilities and some degree of stealthness, obviously only if space planes have been launched in orbit several time before a hypothetical war begins. I heard that the space plane US declassified recently can stay in orbit for slightly less than 1 year!

Yes, the much fabled X-37b. It is an unmanned spaceplane used as a surveillance sat capable of changing orbit. However does the ability to evade anti-ballistic missiles justify the high expense of an orbital bomber? You realize that no current missile defence system could hold back a saturated ballistic missile strike, right?
