Malaysian F/A-18D Hornet crashed right after takeoff. The two pilots had ejected and are safe. Another two lives saved by Martin-Baker.
On first glance, the jet appears to have suffered from foreign object debris (FOD) ingestion by its engine. Still, these jets were procured in the 90s, and RMAF maintenance is not known to be great. There are only 8 airframes in inventory, not counting the 38 secondhand airframes on order from Kuwait. So this crash reduces the RMAF's F/A-18D Hornet fleet to 7. The RMAF's small fleet of combat aircrafts had just gotten even smaller.
Malaysia still operate their F/A-18s? I thought they replaced them with Su-30MKMs. Being a Malaysian Air Force mechanic must be exhausting.

I think what is important is an accurate measure of China's PPP GDP. The ratio between nominal and PPP GDP is just 2 when compared to India at 4-5 times while even Russia is 3-4 times. This suggests that cost of good and services are more expensive in China compared to India Russia and many other countries. I find it hard to believe. The ratio is probably estimated too low. china's PPP GDP should be atleast 3 times bigger than nominal. So, its PPP GDP should be around 55-60 Trillion dollars.

How come the PPP gdp is too low? The nominal gdp is already being under-estimated? Who are responsible for this inaccuracy?
