The funny thing is Michael Kovrig is intimately familiar with just how effective the Chinese justice system is at investigating, prosecuting and deterring criminals, be it drug traffickers or incompetent spies like himself.

Both ordinary Canadians and their government will be better served by emulating Chinese TTPs — for waging a "war on drugs" — than by paying attention to the whining and crying of an abject failure in Canadian human intelligence.

I don’t think China, Russia or Iran trusts Erdogan. It’s in their shared interest to keep Turkey out of the region especially since he’s keen on Pan-Turkish ethnonationalism.

If anything, the Stans countries would have the most to fear from Turkish regional expansion. Though they share a some what similar ancestry and heritage, a union would position them into a subservient role to Turkey, as the throne only seats for one. Like with Turkey's other neighbors, Erdogan would actively try to pressure and subvert them into his own influence.
