This is basically a technological research and testing platform based on the J-16 by replacing the rear pilot with AI systems.

This aircraft has been spotted as early as March 2021, though no idea why @Clay_PLAPAP posted about it right now.

That is yl5 / yj1000, no? ( hate these double designations. )
Is it the first time j16 is seen with one outside of Zhuhai?

Finally got around to editing some of my J-16 shots from Zhuhai last year. Shame it was raining the entire weekend I was there, but I did get a couple of frames with the sun shining.

Here's one of my favorite shots from the entire weekend :) (it is compressed a bit to make it easier to upload here)

looks like it! I thought the YL-5 designationis no longer used and they changed the name to YJ-1000-1 but I could be wrong.
