In hindsight was Saudi Iranian rapprochement a sham?
IMHO yes. The Saudis and Iranians have been fighting a dirty war in the Muslim world for a long time. The Saudis sponsoring groups like Al-Qaeda and Iran sponsoring Hezbollah. Just check what happened in Syria.

Why a sham? It was a normalization of relations which was and is a win win. Iran won by making sure that Saudi Arabia won't actively participate or allow it's bases or airspace to be used by Israel or US against it. That's a pretty big win imo

Saudi Arabian won by making peace with Houthis and Iran and being able to focus on economic development. That's also a big win.

Influence game will be more subtle and more underground, not the crude way of military attacks everywhere and disrupting peace and economic development

Win-win for these two countries and the region in general as where Saudi Arabia leads, most of the rest of the Gulf countries, follows.

It was never an alliance, just a normalization and restoration of relation, from war/aggression to peace between them.

I don't know, i haven't seen anything like Russian jet doing their thing in Ukraine footage from Iran.

Given the amount of infiltrators and Mossad agents i wouldn't be surprised if they are painting on the ground sabotage attacks as missile attacks. Also trickling out Israeli day 0 footage as slow as possible.
Stronger evidence of Israeli aircraft over the airspace, drop tanks found on the ground.

At this rate this feels like no Koreans in Kursk all over again.

If that is true then Israel are penetrating quite deep already yes.

Anyway the thing with any IADS is that you use the land based SAMs to cover strategic sites while aircraft plug the gaps. I doubt Iran has SAMs in the middle of nowhere in a place like that.

But that does indicate Israel could be flying deep inside Iran and using glide bombs at this point.

The US has SAR and SIGINT platforms in orbit which can detect radar stations. But Iran also has systems which have optical and thermal sensors which can operate from ambush positions. So it isn't as easy as some people might assume.

President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone Tuesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming UAE's commitment to reducing tensions and supporting regional peace.

"The UAE continues its intensive communication and consultations with concerned parties to de-escalate the situation," the UAE president said, adding that his country supports any steps aimed at restoring calm between Israel and Iran.

The UAE president also expressed solidarity with Iran and its people, stressing the importance of containing the crisis and preventing it from escalating into broader regional instability.
