There are three broad categories of China experts. The first group knows Chinese and reads the minutae of Chinese white papers and government publications. The second group has travelled to China and gotten an instinctual feel for broad subjects like industry and the people through experience. The third group get all of their information from English language publications written by other Western experts and say the things that Americans like to hear. There is a special word for people like this: useless!

As long as American planners pay attention to what that third category of "experts" say, there is no way that they can understand China.

I don't think that he's ever seen American democracy.

which broad does Gordon Chang belong?

Uncle Gordon is China's greatest ally! He, and groups like the Falun Gong, and all those China-minimizing Youtubers have done an amazing job at lulling American planners into feeling that China is too weak for the US to worry about. In the crucial period from 2012 to about 2016, the US galvanized its resources against China, and China was quite vulnerable to American moves. But they never did anything substantial, and it's obvious that it's China that now holds the upper hand.

Wasn't this dude pretty much the most ineffectual US ambassador to China in decades and frozen out of meeting any Chinese government, business or institutional parties of importance? I remember reading an article that he was so excited to meet and host a US delegation that was visiting China a year or so into his posting because otherwise he had nothing to do and was just staring at the walls all day basically. So we are supposed to listen to this loser's opinion on anything China related? Right...

The guy actually spent a lot of effort travelling around China on the high speed railway.

Yeah this is something I never really understood. They're being hyped as if they are Chechens. Chechens as we know are people who really love fighting for some reasons. In combat sports or in war. With guys like Satiev, Beterbiev and Chimaev, they punch way above their weight for a 1 million population. In fact they join both sides just so they make it interesting as they fight each other.
When you visit Grozny there is display of wealth and it is the culture capital of Russia for 2025
Current Chechen population will be closer to 2m and enormous construction projects going to make it closer to Abu Dhabi. they want to replicate Burj Khalifa. What is missing is the Medals related to SVO. This tells you there military effort is mostly reliant on non Russian citizens. They are effective in managing people especially other muslims that skills only comes from when you are closer to Soft Power.
This is the skills that Chechen commander was using by constantly making comments to get attention so people not know the real aim of why some thing takes so long in Kursk and only study of soft power gives you correct understanding.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone paying attention. It would take years to properly shift production from China to the US. The only reason to do so is because of Trump's tariff war. Will the policies of said trade war still be extant after those years have passed? And nevermind that the underlying reasons for moving production to China in the first place are still going to be there.

There is a way to move production back to the US, but Trump's method isn't going to accomplish anything.
