Latest ShiLao talkshow where he and Otter talked about Mengshi based laser defense systems. Key takeaways—
1) they are the domestic use variant of OW5-A10, which implies a maximum output of 10KW.
2) They are dedicated to point defense against FPV drones. During internal assessment they are found to be superior in the role to air defense guns.

Russia somehow got their hands on Chinese laser weapon, and it seems to be effective.
I wonder if target acquisition can be tweaked or use a dedicated system/UI or if this demo is manual control only, at the 2min mark, operator seems to have had a slight problem tracking and selecting the target.
It’s windows 10, what do you expect?
This is the civilian version called Shennongdun. They can’t export the military version without EU getting the panties in a bunch. There is also rumor that Iran may have redirected their Chinese systems as a part of aid package to Russia.

No mean to be disparaging, but I just remembered the Helios laser system installed by the Americans on DDG-88 has a maximum power of 60 kilowatts, but in last year's tests, the actual power was only 20 kilowatts, which is not even close to their 30-kilowatt ODIN and the AN/SEQ-3 tested in 2014. It's almost the same power as this little car. I really can't help laughing.

OW-5A10 laser with 10KW maximum output. Cheaper than AA guns and a lot more effective against small fixed wing/quadcopters/fpv drones.
