Probably nonsense because the BVRAAM was first shown in 2021 (ie long before DPRK involvement in the ukrainian war) and likely it's development started before that. If there anything vaguely russian on it is the fact that actually those rear fins remind me of those on R-24.

I think the fact that the new DPRK AAM look closest to the PL-12 and PL-10 makes it possible there might (i emphasize, might) be a degree of chinese involvement, especially since the missile fired seems more like a PL-11, but we can only speculate atm.

Why Kim decided to report the accident? He could censor everything, pretend everything is going well. Cause these accidents will definitely destory NK's military deterrence. Look how foreign media report this is interesting. :rolleyes:

That's actually something I find interesting about the Kim Jong Un regime: it seems surprisingly open and public about the failures of the state in various areas, especially when compared to his grandfather and father.

Just to remember, last year's failed satellite launches were also clearly reported on KCNA.
