How many did they even fire… finding these things is pretty difficult.
I would assume a lot. Pakistan said that they had over 20 jets flying and shooting missiles. And as much fun as we are having making fun of the rafale. Its no slouch and all Indian planes were flying over Indian territory. I would not be surprised if the number of PL-15s launched exceeded 30 or even 40.

Prior tot his the best example of long range modern kills we had were the Russian R-37ms and we know that most dont manage to hit their target but force the opposition planes to abandon missions.

If what Pakistan says is true and India had over double digit planes in the sky, it makes sense that a lot of Pl-15s had to be launched.

Never understood their arrogance. I know Ecole Polytechnique is great and all but current France isn't known as an engineering powerhouse like Germany or Japan in the 80s. There's no reason to believe their machinery is something truly special. Living off past glory I guess.

Honestly lately feels like a reversal of late Qing. Europeans are the late Qing who are unaware that the world has caught up to them.
Everyone is number one in their own fantasy. Here watch this video then tell me you don't think they have best ship in the world.
It unique, the best, numbba one, it literally Star Destroyer.

Slight ooof, it should have self destructed. But then they must have anticipated it before offering it for export
It did explode. AAMs have a small charge that spreads shrapnel in a ring. It has the minimum amount of explosives necessary to take down an aircraft since weight and volume are at a premium and using as little as you can get away with leaves space for fuel and electronics. It's not a mini-nuke that turns the missile into plasma.

You can see from the clean shear that the front compartments of the missile are gone. What they have is an empty tube with fins on it.

I don't know how in the name of fuck can they possibly assume that given 2019..... but then it's Indian we're talking so ok

In 2019, the IAF lost a MiG-21 on the Pakistani side of the border. This means other IAF fighters probably penetrated Pakistani airspace too, though likely only briefly, in 2019.

Despite violating Pakistani sovereignty, the downed IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was apparently well treated by the Pakistani military, and even characterized the local tea that he was served as "fantastic."

To the best of my understanding, crewed IAF platforms remained in Indian airspace during Operation Sindoor on May 7th.

So Indian authorities may have mistakenly thought that the risk of a credible PAF response were "manageable" perhaps so long as most of their fighters maintained "enough distance" from, or at a minimum, refrained from penetrating, Pakistani airspace.

If so, India underestimated both Pakistani resolve and PAF capabilities.

I personally hope, for the sake of Indian sailors...that Modi does not ask for naval action to take place. The number of anti ship missiles Pakistan has, along with aircraft, ships, and submarines capable of delivering them...it won't end very well.

Where were Indian S-400s in all of this? I understand that having them next to the border would be beyond stupid since Pakistan could use rocket artillery to take it out (Pakistani A-100 has a 140 km reach I believe). But S-400 has a pretty significant reach....wondering why this wasn't being used...
