Cutting welfare to boost military spending - what can possibly get wrong?
Just like COVID response where they lost both most money and most lives, Americans are always looking for the optimal way to achieve the worst possible outcome: why lose just a hot war with a foreign power when you can lose a hot war with multiple foreign powers, lose a trade war, lose a tech war, lose a financial war, and lose a civil war all at the same time.

There is nothing really new there. It is the same old dismissal of Chinese achievements and success as just merely due to "slave labor" as if it is just brute force hordes of sweatshop workers or industrial espionage. It allows the racists to continue to dismiss and dehumanize non-whites as mindless robots incapable of being intelligent or being capable of innovation. This allows the racists to avoid self-reflection on their own economic or industrial flaws and they will take actions on the wrong issues, such as thinking that if they just tighten security they will stop technology theft and thus China's tech progress should come to a halt. This kind of thinking will fail and it will become ever more obvious as China continues to pull ahead in tech and have tech released for public use that the US does not have. How can China steal tech that does not exist anywhere else in the world? (I'm sure the delusional racists will say that the US had it all along under top security and that it just wasn't released to the public)

The next stage of the copium will be what they did with Japan. They will concede that Japan refines existing technology but still deny that it is "true" innovation. Among the mental gymnastics will be saying that new technology is still ultimately copying Western tech and not true innovation, even if the laws of physics means there will be convergent technology. (e.g. All planes with wings will be seen as copying even though wings are required for planes to fly at all).

They will always keep moving the goalposts so there is no point trying to debate these kinds of people.

It's interesting where before China switched over to alternative agricultural sources away from the US, a lot of food products in China was said to involve US agricultural goods in the basic ingredients. Food isn't expensive in China yet in the US, prices keep go up and up and up. How is it that in China food is cheap while in agriculturally bountiful US it's expensive? Most meat is expensive in the US. Why? With all the agricultural surplus in the US, feeding livestock shouldn't be a problem. The answer is why the US will never get manufacturing back. US capitalism demands money be made at every opportunity every step of the way. If everyone is trying squeeze in every penny they can to profit, nothing is cheap. Visa and Mastercard can't operate in China because they would charge a transaction fee where there is none for Alipay. Then you have the hypocrite West whining about China not mixing politics and economics yet when they want to push their social programs onto the world, in the case of Japan, they forced some Japanese game developers to follow their DEI standards or else they would get Visa and Mastercard to deny consumers from buying their games using their system. The Western capitalist system prices itself out of competition.
