MAGA is going to need to spin their no war policy when they get locked into a multi decade war with Iran.

Didnt he say he would be leading the way on attacking Iran (not get dragged in by anyone) if he deosnt get the deal he wants (tough guy, stuff).

You know, just like with China, he'll be attcking them if they dont do the deal he wants ... (bombs away, Three Gorges dam and all that - but luckily Xi is on the phone to Trump right now!)

This might well be the turning point in the balance of power between the two countries, but is very far from the collapse of the U.S. If I were making the decisions in China, I would not be seeking to maximize the damage, but to return to status quo while extracting a very large concession. It is still a long ways off from the final show down. What you want in this situation is to remain steady to keep the other guy from completely flipping the table. Time is on your side. Get concessions to accelerate your rise. Use this opportunity to make deals with the rest of the world. Trump has done enough damage to the U.S. all by himself. You don't want him to use this to make you the scapegoat, even to his own people.

This is not the final showdown, we are still running the Marathon.

I myself have said earlier that the trickiest part now for China is to not accidentally one-shot the U.S. economy and make it a no brainier for them to try a military Hail Mary.

However, you are being vastly too timid in your ambitions. What you describe is just China’s normal game plan. You are just basically ignoring this colossal gift Trump has handed China and suggest China just continue to play it safe and stick with its long game.

You can have grand plans and detailed contingencies, but truly great leadership also require the wisdom to recognise a golden opportunity when it presents itself, and the balls to come out of your comfort zone and seize it.

If China does seize the moment, it can cut potentially decades off of its timetable and vastly exceed the wildest dreams of past Chinese strategists in terms of what is realistically achievable in terms of the final new equilibrium between China and America.

Make no mistake, I fully expect China to go for the kill here. The tricky part, is how to deal lethal, non-recoverable damage that then takes the US economy months or even years to bleed-out, and not accidentally achieve an instant kill.

As such, expect China to continue with small and steady blows instead of seeking to deliver a devastating knock-out blow.

But Brady McCarron, spokesman for U.S. Marshals Service in Washington, D.C., said Dugan is being charged with two federal felony counts: obstruction and concealing an individual. McCarron also confirmed Dugan was arrested at about 8 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi posted on X: "I can confirm that our @FBI agents just arrested Hannah Dugan – a county judge in Milwaukee – for allegedly helping an illegal alien avoid an arrest by @ICEgov."

Earlier, FBI Director Kash Patel posted and later deleted a tweet about the arrest.

"Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week," Patel wrote. "We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest."

Multiple Milwaukee County judges confirmed that the arrest took place at the courthouse. Chief Judge Carl Ashley confirmed the incident in an email to courthouse officials

"Trump: I would say, over the next three to four weeks, and we're finished, by the way.

You’re finished?

Trump: We’ll be finished."

A Freudian moment?
Oh that is excruciating! Some commentators are says Trump might have early stage dementia and I think they may be on to something. Anyway, he now wants China to "open its markets to US firms". Well there's a deal there I think - X and Meta allowed in China, ByteDance keeps TikTok, tariffs dropped or at least substantially reduced.
