Are the 055 DDG moored at the bottom left pier and the other 055 DDG inside the smaller drydock at top center belonged to the 1st batch and the 1st unit of 2nd batch from Dalian? I.e. one of them is fitting out and the other is conducting maintenance?

Otherwise, those two 055 DDGs would be new 2nd batch units that literally popped out of nowhere, and I find this kinda unlikely...

Likely no... Maybe we'll see improved variants of the current 055 DDGS, though not so much of a completely new class in the 15th 5YP.

This count is not correct. Anyone doubting it can easily check the related imagery on Copernicus. The second 055 (ie hull 12 overall) of batch 2 at Dalian Dagushan was laid down in May 2024, and has seen very gradual completion alongside a Type 052D since then. Hull 14 has started taking shape since August 2024, and that is the hull "70% complete" as of April 2025.

For their tally to make sense we have to assume that Dalian materialised one Type 055 out of thin air. There is also no similar evidence that JN has already started on their fourth hull of batch 2 either, and Dalian has consistently followed JN in construction pace.

There are two Type 055 under construction, hull 12 and hull 14, in the most recent imagery dated today on Copernicus/Sentinel.

In Shugarts imagery there are another two completed Type 055 visible, one of which remains drydocked in the most recent image I've linked here. One of these two is very likely #10, which was launched in May last year, then moved across the bay for fitting out. The other one logically must be a batch 1 vessel that returned to Dagushan for maintenance.

As noted before, there is no visual evidence or explanation for how Dalian could have completed one more Type 055 between middle of last year and now. The two hulls I marked have not at all moved since May/August last year. The only progress we can see is their gradual completion.

The way the information was disclosed was them talking about the satellite photo as opposed to using any insider knowledge, so it's very possible for them to be incorrect on this.
