No parking and the design is not sea worthy at all.
I agree that the design is subpar. The wave piercing bow even had VLS modules installed which was odd.

The only thing interesting about it to me was the below the deck, side launch paths. The lack of interference between the landing path and the launch paths is what I like about it.

There are many ways to improve this concept.
  • Replace the wave-piercing bow with a conventional one.
  • Keep the same overall length which means more deck space now occupying above the wave piercing bow section.
  • Get rid of the straight long landing zone and have a short diagonal convention landing zone starting from the stern.
  • Move the side launch paths more forward that they might be hugging the bow section. This prevent the launching zone from being in the path of the diagonal Landing Zone.

Wished I knew how to make CGI art. That's enough from me. Don't want to derail this thread anymore.

Interesting concept though IMO.

The missing bit at the stern is really triggering my "OCD" so much... Probably doesn't matter all that much to its EM emission and they probably didn't thought they'd be building such a large carrier when this piece of land was claimed tbh.

If I may make a wild guess, that looks like at another 20,000 to 30,000 tons on top of Fujian's 80,000 tons. So, 100,000 to 110,000 tons, or may be even more heavier, let's wait and see.

I am sure that actual 004 will be longer than the mock-up building since they don't have more empty land to extend construction of the mock-up.

Do I miss it, but the most recent one (on top ??) is still from 2024? Or is there a specific date given I don't see?

Not only longer, but also much wider than Fujian ?!

No.

Fujian is already ~76 meters wide at the flight deck level, which is just barely narrower than the flight decks of the Nimitzs and Fords (~78 meters). Based on current observation, we don't expect the 004's flight deck to be significantly wider than that.

Also, the width of the mockup carrier structure at Huangjiahu before the currently-underway expansion work is only ~65 meters, which is much narrower than the flight decks of all PLAN carriers.

Really? So this measurement via GE is that much off? ... since if not, then the new deck would be close to 80m wide.
