When the overwhelming majority of the US Congress (by that I mean >2/3) are living in the "We've stared down the Soviets face-to-face for more than four decades and finally won! Champion is ours forever!" and the "We have finally defeated the Soviets! We've reached the End of History!" alternate realities and fantasies, such results are rather unsurprising.

Currently, the US congress has an approval rating of 15% or so. I'm wondering if they are really so ideologically driven to win a new cold war against China and Russia, or they just want to get kickbacks from such a pork-laden and corruption prone bill.

Tesla had their factory in Shanghai built in less than a year...? India not able to show off how they would do it better. Also I thought I saw a news blurb that Tesla cancelled its cheap EV that was suppose to be affordable and they were going to produce it in this very factory. Things not going well for India.
Elon Musk may still go to India, not to build Model 2, but to sell SpaceX's Starlink to Modi.

Two words: home ownership

LMAO: the prime minister of Papua New Guinea is unhappy that his country is portrayed as full of cannibals by Biden, and is asking the US to take back their WW2 remains (not eaten, still there obviously).

Looks like Paki (First Post) and the rest of Hindutva Bharat-India VERY ARROGANTLY ASSUMED that MALDIVES will come crawling, begging India back into their arms for daring to forge a closer relationship with the China.

Now, the most recent election result looks like the newly elected PRO-CHINA Pres has been VINDICATED with his recalibration since 66 out of 86 seats were won by the incumbent President's party.

The HYPOCRISY AND INDIAN ANGST Along with MOST EUROPEAN SUPREMACISTS some of which are posters on this site knows no bounds. China doesn't have the right to be concerned when outside powers poke around China's disputed areas and core redlines (SCS, Taiwan).

Just look at the same PALKI SHARMA bragging about INDIAN missile export to the PH that is proudly proclaim to keep Chinese PLAN in check. China isn't not an angel and GEOPOLITICS isn't for the faint of heart, just spare us the b.s. with your gnashing of teeth complaining incessantly like toddlers regarding big bad CCPs sinister ambitions.

Hypocrisy is done if you are a powerful country simply because it doesn't matter if you are one, you will still get your way. The west does it because in the past they were one deciding what will happen in the end. It's only now their power is weakened, they look stupid.

India was never in a position of strength to do so with China so they look like idiots when China hits back. Well you guys started it, so China will be the one to end it.

One comment or two.

Think of these small states, let's say Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal.

Then there are all those small island states in the Pacific Ocean, like Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Samoa. (Note, I had to look up Fiji neighbours, I cannot remember those places).

Look at what is happening.

Traditionally, those countries were not in the Chinese sphere of influence, nor there was anything notable about those relations, and those countries were more close diplomatically to their bigger neighbours. We know who we talking about.

India to the west, and Australia and the United States to the east.

The rise of China, or in other words Chinese power, is rearranging all these traditional relationships. It is all happening at once, look west, and look east. China influence lands with an impact.

Thus, the corresponding butt hurt and hand wringing from the same people is expected.

It is kind of like that expression, take the fight to them. By design or it just happens that way, the PRC taking the diplomatic fight right into their neighbourhood where they traditionally dominated.

Do not underestimate Chinese power.

That is all I got to say. Heh!

:p

60 Minutes is about to start on the West coast for me.
Apparently Gina Raimondo is spinning China's 5nm semiconductor as claiming it's an inferior chip. Yeah because the US is using 3nm but the whole point was she was suppose to prevent China from making the 5nm breakthrough that require the next level advanced tools to achieve. She also seemed butt-hurt that she was used as advertisement for Huawei's smartphones. She kept on saying "we" have the most advanced chips then the interviewer said, "You mean Taiwan!" and you can tell she didn't like it.

US gambled market access to China over <14nm technology, lost the gamble big time, and now quibbling about the difference between Taiwanese (not American) 3nm and Chinese (not Taiwanese) 5nm. That's when you know American policy makers/politicians are completely lost and screwed.
