Xi'an Ziguang Guoxin's SeDRAM technology achievement "Key Technologies and Applications of Three-Dimensional Heterogeneous Integrated High-bandwidth and Low-Power Dynamic Random Access Memory Chips" won the second prize of the Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
It is reported that in response to the "storage wall" dilemma of imbalanced processor and memory performance that is common in current computing architectures, Xi'an Ziguang Guoxin innovatively proposed a three-dimensional heterogeneous integrated DRAM architecture. This architecture significantly increases the memory access bandwidth, reduces the energy consumption per unit bit, greatly improves the memory access efficiency, and provides a leading solution to the performance bottleneck of slow massive data transfer speed and high transfer energy consumption.
At the same time, the standardized chip design process proposed by Xi'an Unigroup Guoxin effectively solves the problem of collaborative design of systems, circuits and packaging in the field of three-dimensional heterogeneous integration. Focusing on this technological achievement, the company has deployed more than 100 related patents and achieved a cumulative economic benefit of more than 1 billion. In addition, the results evaluation committee composed of authoritative experts in the industry spoke highly of the advancement and innovation of the technology, and unanimously believed that the technology "has reached the international advanced level as a whole and provided new ideas for the development of localized high-performance computing chips."

This is definitely aggressive. They don’t even have the current Beijing fan anywhere close to 70% utilization and they are building another men’s production line?

unless I am misunderstanding this and it is just another line on their current Beijing fab

Large-scale photonic chiplet Taichi empowers 160-TOPS/W artificial general intelligence

Abstract

The pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI) continuously demands higher computing performance. Despite the superior processing speed and efficiency of integrated photonic circuits, their capacity and scalability are restricted by unavoidable errors, such that only simple tasks and shallow models are realized. To support modern AGIs, we designed Taichi—large-scale photonic chiplets based on an integrated diffractive-interference hybrid design and a general distributed computing architecture that has millions-of-neurons capability with 160–tera-operations per second per watt (TOPS/W) energy efficiency. Taichi experimentally achieved on-chip 1000-category–level classification (testing at 91.89% accuracy in the 1623-category Omniglot dataset) and high-fidelity artificial intelligence–generated content with up to two orders of magnitude of improvement in efficiency. Taichi paves the way for large-scale photonic computing and advanced tasks, further exploiting the flexibility and potential of photonics for modern AGI.
