Future High Speed Helicopter and next generation rotorcraft

I guess making the tiltrotor UAV will help them develop the avionics and control laws for tiltrotors without spending the huge amounts of money required to make a manned version.

I frankly think that the US V-22 Osprey is a mistake of a design. It is just way too complicated and unreliable of a design. If instead of using hydraulics and a turbine engine on each wingtip they put a turbine engine in the center body, an electric generator, that were connected to electric engines in the wingtips and used electromechanical devices instead of hydraulics the whole thing could be made much more reliable. It is just that the hybrid power scheme might be too heavy for this to be usable. At least with current technology.

That would still depend upon mission. Unmanned is fine for ISR but not so much when you want to move grunts to field.

V22 is a product of its development. It’s not a 2030s design of tilt rotor it’s a 1980s design. It was and is still very advanced design offering flight capability not matched by any other military or civilian aircraft anywhere on the planet.
Farther as you just pointed out the scheme you are advocating isn’t realistic today! Let alone 4 decades ago! It’s one thing to put electric motors on the tips of arms for a quad copter the size of a trash can another to put them on the tips of an airplane meant to carry 30 people or a car and trailer.

Claimed to be a next-gen (heavy) attack helicopter in the works.

Which means that so far, there are 4 new/next-gen helicopter projects currently WIP in China.
Just while a US helicopter project goes in the sink, that Chinese one pop up a very sleek looking beast and if it have already got his fist flight it's big !

Some information on said new WZ-XX attack helicopter, mentioned by Yankee, @伏尔戈星图 and others:
1. First flight already conducted two months ago (or earlier), now undergoing various verification trials;
2. Less likely to be an AH-64 Apache-counterpart (medium attack helicopter), more likely to be a Kh-52 Alligator-counterpart (heavy attack helicopter); and
3. To feature rigid coaxial twin rotors and a pusher propeller.

If the above information are indeed accurate, we could be looking at a larger and heavily-armed S-97 or SB-1.

Interesting claim and as much as I would like to believe it ... "seeing is believing!"

As such, the most important question now is: Who is the original source and how reliable is it?

Even more as much as I admire @伏尔戈星图's enthusiasm, I'm still not sure how to rate his credibility.

Making it rigid rotor would substantially increase program risk. This is not how China typically does things.
In theory you can make a heavy attack helicopter with the WZ-10 engines. They have about the same power as the Russian VK-2500.
Didn't see a lot of compound helicopter design from China, but we got this one like 12 years ago from Zhuhai Airshow, but it don't seem to have gone far:

The original mention was by Yankee (and associates) at the latest 察话会Au podcast.

The details on said WZ-XX, meanwhile, are add-ons from @伏尔戈星图 and others.

I won't vouch for the veracity of the details of said WZ-XX until further confirmation from semi-official/official sources are available.

However, for what is (almost) certain, WZ-XX is real and is already flying right now.
