I hear what you are saying man!

When I wrote the post, I actually wrote that they sold drugs and with that drug money funded the right wing death squads in Nicaragua who went around killing local officials, all trained by the CIA.

But that happened a long time ago, and I could not remember much of any details, so I went with the safe post, where I knew and remember they sold weapons to Iran, which is against American law, back then, and still is now.

Then Oliver North, he goes to jail for around 3 years? Comes out as a national hero and celebrity.

When dealing with the Americans, we are really dealing with the devil himself. Old Ronnie was crooked snake.

This is what happened, generally.

  • they sold weapons to Iran which is illegal
  • they sold narcotics which is illegal
  • they funded death squads which is not illegal, but com'on now
They had this guy, Oliver North, testify to all of that, and he goes to jail for 3 years!

Given his coup attempt was rumored to be backed by CIA (either directly and/or indirectly through CIA-tied Russian oligarchs), and that the coup attempt was in large part to further the interests of those specific interest groups, all of the following possibilities makes sense to me:

1) Putin/one of his men/one of his backers took him out
2) CIA tied up a loose end
3) CIA-tied Russian oligarchs tied up a loose end
