Congrats to India indeed.

That said, the non existence of fanfare when China soft landed on Mars at the first attempt was a stark contrast showing how the Western MSM can really control the narrative.

I remember watching a YouTube video (I think it was the German DW) where the female Australian host was basically hoping China’s Mars Tianwen-1 mission would fail. It was disgusting. People with such pure hatred in their minds.

of treated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant, an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.

Hong Kong and Macau will ban aquatic product imports from 10 Japanese regions including Tokyo and Fukushima from Thursday.

Hong Kong, Japan's second biggest seafood market after mainland China, bought 75.5 billion yen worth of seafood from Japan last year, the data shows.

there were pretty good discussions about Chang'e 4,5 and Tianwen-1 on tech boards like hacker news, nasaspaceflight but they tend to get derailed by trolls pretty quickly:

- uncreative / followers not innovators
- copying Perseverance
- militaristic and not for science
- program based on Russian tech

you know, the usual stuff when it comes to China

On Tuesday, Iran revealed its new armed drone : the Mohajer-10. It has been revealed on the Industry Day in Tehran during a event hold by the President Ibrahim Raisi.

The Mohajer-10 drone can fly a maximum time of 24 hours at an altitude of 7 000 meters and possesses a radius of 2 000 km (enough to reach Israel territories). It carries 450 liters of fuel and 300kg of cargo. It is equipped of electronic warfare and intelligence systems, this unmanned aerial vehicle can fly at a maximum speed of 210 kilometers per hour and can host a couple of types of bombs and weapons. In addition to introducing the Mohajer-10, the event unveiled the homegrown Arman-1 and Arman-2 smart bombs. Weighing 35 kilograms, Arman-1 has an operational range of 20 kilometers. It can be launched and fired by various operational drones that the Iranian armed forces have. Arman-2 weighs 40 kilograms and has a maximum operational range of 100 kilometers. The smart bomb utilizes electric propulsion and can be employed with various operational drones. Both smart bombs are equipped with the GPS/INS guidance system and can be loaded on the newly unveiled Mohajer-10 drone. The homegrown Sina loitering suicide drone was also unveiled at the exhibition.

Now that i presented you its capacities, i will tell you his impact on international politics : Israeli reaction.

Israeli media has reported that the new Iran's drone is a threat to their nation, why ? Due to its radius of 2 000km, it can hit everywhere in Israel and with its huge amount of weapons' types it becomes really hostile and dangerous for Israel. The Israeli Channel 12 indicated that Iran threatens "Israel" once again, but this time via a video in Hebrew, which is considered a challenge and an unprecedented event in the recent period. Moreover in this video, he can hear a important phrase showing the Iran's will : "prepare the shelters". It shows us how Iran is ready to response at any Israeli attacks and the Persian nation has become a real threat the the Zionist state. Sources claim that some of these drones have crossed the Syrian border. Israel has said that it is the first time Iran had established such threats toward Israel.

They failed in their first attempt at a soft landing on the moon a few years ago. But they learnt their lesson and succeeded at their second attempt. I would say ISRO generally has some of their best brains.

Russia messed up the joint Mars mission with China Fobos-Grunt in 2011 and messed up their Luna-25 Moon mission again. Sad to see how far Russian space program has fallen when India is now beating them. Corruption is the biggest problem for Russia.
Russia certainly not do well joint missions as you never know there real priorities. currently they did moved around alot of people to boost certain things and less prioritize other areas. and so may have quality control issue in less priority area.

A plant for mass production of satellites will be built in Russia

The slipway assembly of satellites is long - 15-18 months. It looks like this: equipment is mounted on the platform, if something fails, then everything is removed from the platform, sent to the manufacturer, and then the assemblers wait for the equipment to come back. Now Russian satellites are very different from each other, so it is impossible to talk about their replication and mass production. In addition, historically, Europe and the United States have relied on satellites, and Russia - on manned cosmonautics. Spending on a manned program for Russia is twice as high as in other countries - 35% versus 16-18%.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Being a "sex worker" got completely normalized in the West in the last 20 years. The biggest manifestation of this is OnlyFans. So many women participate that memes about it are mainstream. So you have a society where young people can't make money and providing sexual services for money is no big deal. 40%+ is exactly what you would expect.
Hey man it's hard out here for a pimp lol

We like to joke about India, but they deserve this win. Congrats to the ISRO! Well done, learnt from their mistakes in previous attempts.

You see, you are trying to make logical sense of a propagadanda hit piece that was designed to appeal to emotions, which is why it looks ridiculous when you analyze it that way.

The narrative is designed to invoke an image of those old schools you see in movie or something, where the pupils are slapped if they dared to use their left hand to write, and speak in their local dialect or something like that. So in other words, pretty oppressive sh*t. As for the adults, it's the old editing tricks that evokes images of "Konzentrationslager" with "Arbeit macht frei" as theme (i.e. vocation training).

Put together, it is meant to evoke an emotional response to the effect of "ZOMG the ebil Han-supremacist SeeSeePee is actively genociding the $LOCAL_MINORITY in $CURRENT_YEAR!!1!!1!". You were not meant to think about it too hard, because then the narrative will fall apart. And if the narrative gets planted into people's head first, it is very hard to displace it, because evidences to the contrary can always explained away somehow. After all, I, too, believe that Bielefeld is fake news :D

Now for my hot take: "cultural genocide", when taken to its logical conclusion, includes standardized education. Think about it, a standardized education is meant to take someone, strip them of local cultural context (aka family), and mold them into a standardized worker. Even if there was no overt effort to suppress any local language, the fact that education materials are written in a standardized language and not the local one and that the educations are more often than not delivered in standardized language, meant that the local language (dialect, accent, whatever) will eventually be displaced.

This is why the whole "cultural genocide" thing is useless, because a lot of fairly mundane things can be thought of as such to the point where it dilutes the actual term "genocide".

I mostly posted that in the hopes that anyone might learn a thing or two or be inspired to learn more about the poverty alleviation efforts underway in China. These boarding schools (like them or not) are a big component of the educational strategy. Although China has made amazing strides in our lifetimes, there is still A LOT of work to be done. These are real human rights, being able to eat, read, ability to make a living and put a roof over your head, not waving some banners around or putting pictures up of Winnie the Pooh on wechat.

I also just find it so hard to swallow how stupid people (especially "his fellow Americans") are expected to be. In the UK (and other commonwealth countries), boarding is a common feature of elite private institutions. Granted it is less common for primary school aged children.

Yes, I agree that "cultural genocide" is a real dilution of the term. Canadians should especially be cognizant of this in recent years because we are realizing with every native mass grave being found.

On a lighter note, I was once shooting around a basketball on a public hoop and started chatting with a guy from Guangdong and I'm like "Oh I speak Cantonese!". He tells me he'd rather speak English with me to get better at it and he mostly speaks Mandarin anyway. So I guess that's like double genocide?
