Arévalo hasn't promised opening diplomatic relations with China. However, I think some skilled diplomacy could accomplish this.

Imo Biden will visit Taiwan or meet Taiwan's president in 2024. Having Guatemala break relations with Taiwan on that occasion would be a nice partial countermeasure.

Besides Russia now is not China back in the 70s and Russia now is not in a shaky relationship with China like China was with USSR back then, the more pressing issue with the tweet is that... does VR not know both Xi and Putin have internet access and have just learnt his game plan? Did Nixon telegraph Mao and Brezhnev his plan before visiting China in 72? Lol
