Are there many Muslims who serve in PLAN to make this question more relevant than it is?

Well, using Muslim to denote those service men and women in PLA will lead to the same confusion in the "fight". In China, government employees (PLA is part of) can not be religious. So a Muslim in the western definition is not let into the institutions, same for Christians or any others. However, an ethnic minority such as Uyghur can join PLA and eating exclusive food on the ground of ethnic customs and traditions but not religious ground. He/she can be admitted into CCP which is a prerequisite of being promoted to officer. Now you can ask is he or she a Muslim or not.

On board Liaoning, there are 25 always using this Canteen. I presume there are at least 25 Ethnic minority sailors/officers who are from such background that they exclude certain food. But I am sure they are not religious. So they are ethnic Uyghurs, Kazaks or Hui's, but not Muslim in the non-Chinese sense. There are many posts in this thread some time ago about Uyghur sailors on Liaoning.

In other branches in PLA, I know there are some company sized units in Xinjiang being primarily composed by soldiers from certain ethnic groups. These units have their own facilities to server their special need including food. So, it is very relevant to certain units and areas. I think the relevance does not need to be related to the number of soldiers, it is an official principle enshrined in the state and party constitution in China.

A background infor., the current Chairman of Xinjiang Shohrat Zakir is Uyghur and CCP member, the former deputy prime minister Hui Liangyu is a Hui and CCP member. Both Uyghur and Hui are traditionally Muslim people, but now many of them are CCP members and state officials.

I think, when talking about PLA and government personnel, we should not use the name Muslim but instead their specific ethnic names. Mixing the two concepts was the root cause of that specific member who dragged us into his/her "fight".

that's like 0.005%! again assuming standard ratio which in the case of PLAN may actually be even lower.

Hmmm, the deck of the Liaoning does not appear to be strewn with recessed tie down points like the decks of American carriers.

This suggests the design is more focused around a specific air wing/operating doctrine, with less emphasis on versatility.
There are a lot more than it may appear. I see 24 or more of them between the last aircraft forward coming toward you, #120, and the closest one to you marked #104. And that does not include tie downs back behind the aircraft where you cannot see them.

They are not going to have as many as a US carrier in any case because the deck is much smaller.

And the denisty is probably not as great because they simply cannot carry the number of aircraft that the US does n deck in any case.

But I see a pretty decent density there for what they do carry.

Those are nice pics.

I'd still like to see (and at some point we will) 18-20 aircraft on deck at once.

To date, I still think the most we have seen is 13...and in thise pictures, I can readily see where another five could easily be spotted to bring it up to eighteen.

Here are the two pictures, from different angles, of that occasion last fall:

I know they are capable of it...and have probably had that many before. I'd just love to see it....like this:

Second Chinese Liaoning aircraft carrier might be launched at the end of April 2017, local media reported Friday.

China Reveals Launch Date of New Aircraft Carriers
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Sina news portal, a number of photos have been circulating in the Internet, depicting installation of radars and base painting of the deck. After analyzing the photos expects came to a conclusion that the vessel might be launched in late April, in particular on April 23, when China celebrates Founding day of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
Liaoning is a Type 001 class vessel. The first carrier was rebuilt out of Soviet aircraft cruiser Varyag in early 2000s, with the first sea trial taking place in 2011. In September 2012, Liaoning was commissioned into the PLA Navy.

In late December 2015, the Chinese Defense Ministry announced plans to construct a new Liaoning aircraft carrier, built by China itself.
