GREAT pixcs and she is looking in top shape.

The PLAN is now more than willing to show their flagship off to the Chinese people.

In a few years, they will do the same with CV-17, and then follow that wth CV-002.

By that time, the new Type 055 will lead them into these harbors.

Very great photos.

Congrats to the PLAN and the PRC.

..and I wonder what will be Liaoning CV-16 FIRST overseas port visit? We all have to wonder..

As dusk fell over Hong Kong on Friday, the first guests were taken aboard the Liaoning, China’s first operational aircraft carrier that is berthed off southern Tsing Yi.

Among those invited were more than 400 guests from military, political and business circles. They were hosted by the Liaoning’s commander, Rear Admiral Ding Yi.

Almost all senior Hong Kong government officials led by Chief Executive Carrie Lam, former leaders Tung Chee-hwa and Leung Chun-ying and lawmakers were among the guests.

Some visitors were disappointed as only Lam, Tung and Leung had the opportunity to go on the flight deck, while other visitors had to stay inside the hangar for a buffet dinner.

However, there was one surprise as photo taking was finally allowed inside the carrier. Guests were able to take photos of two J-15 fighter jets inside the hanger.

The 60,900-tonne warship made its entry into Hong Kong waters early on Friday.

Dwarfing its 20 escorting Hong Kong police launches, the Liaoning sailed through the East Lamma Channel. Its size meant it could not sail into Victoria Harbour.

from 7am on Friday to 10.30am next Tuesday during the fleet’s debut visit to the city. No aircraft, drones, model aircraft, kites, and balloons are allowed; Government Flying Service planes are the only exception.

The PLA Navy said the battle group left its home port in Qingdao, Shandong province for routine training.

The Yantai arrived at the PLA’s naval base on Stonecutters Island at about 9am. The frigate was greeted by a fireboat – which welcomed the ship by spraying water – lion dancers and students in white caps, white shirts and crimson skirts or trousers waving Chinese and Hong Kong flags.

Guests, as well as soldiers in land, sea and air uniforms, looked on at the naval base pier as the frigate approached.

The crowd grew even more excited as the Yinchuan approached the base at about 9.45am, with lion dancers performing amid the sound of gongs and drums, pupils and soldiers waving and guests rushing out of their seats to take photos and selfies. Crew members lined the deck and waved back.

I doubt there will be will be more than 500 'original' visitors during that 'open day'. Most of those 'citizens' who probably sold their free tickets to the mainlad visitors from Beijing etc who won't be allowed but they love to watch their 250 USD tickets that they bought on Internet auctions. The rest will consist from 'tourists' from mainland who got their tickets for free (as there's some 1,600 tickets distributed to them - I assume mostly 40+ houseviews).

I would love to see QE visit there for comparision. Free tickets, a round across the ship, buy souvenires. I have no doubt what would be 'people's choice' at the time.

Typical hater and sour grape ... your doubt means nothing at all ;););)

You have absolutely no ideas ... there is no online auction and the ticket is linked to HK resident ID ..... thats purely your imagination without knowing what you are talking about ... but no surprise here coming from you

"Only 2,000 Hongkongers who queued for hours on Monday to register to board the Liaoning would be allowed to access to the carrier on Saturday and Sunday" ... so no internet auction .. which is purely your hatred imagination :mad::mad:

As some have mentioned earlier, each ticket is tied to the buyer with their ID printed on it. I don't think anyone can simply buy their tickets online.

In the videos posted above, visitors clearly speak Cantonese, not Mandarin Chinese used on the mainland. And all of them seem to know each other very well, suggesting that they are locals.

Hong Kong is a metropolitan with 7 million people. Is it that hard for you to believe that they can find 500 locals who are interested in checking out a carrier? Our own MwRYum is a Hong Kong local who would love to get a chance to get on the CV-16...

Well I know that many of those tickets were distributed through auctions online with many happy people buying from all over China after the 'official' part. Just keep them entertained until they will be verified. What can you do...

It was a ball for 'tops of the pops' mainly coming from PRC-friendly families around HK. What did you expect. An average Joe signing prises in Cantonese for PRC?

Ok, I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve here. Hong Kong people may be very frustrated with the mainland government and might be very annoyed with all the bad-mannered mainland tourists. However, they still identify themselves as Chinese. That has never changed. So is it that hard for you to believe that some of them, at least a small portion of them, might be excited about seeing a Chinese carrier?

And no one doubts that the visitors are most likely friendly to mainland. And what's wrong with that? We have forum members who are Hong Long locals who enjoy checking out Chinese weapons. What's wrong with that?
