When you reposted something[rather often], no one say anything sarcastic , including me. I looked at it as an impressive array of fighters, no more no less. A temporary designation J 16D intended to suggest J16D not yet in service! So I do know J16D is not yet in service. Nevertheless, I also pointed out that the China made engines are not up to scratch ..

And again such a post is utterly senseles: you post an image just posted before in lower quality and a stupid & wrong title... so why posting it anyway?

J-11A upgraded to use R-77?

This was the case for sometime now. Hui Tong hypthesized that either Ukraine or Belarus helped with R-77 integration. If China asked the Russians they would have demaned new RADARS (N001VEP?) to be installed.

While we're at it, was it then just the initial 24 su-27 that were retired years ago? And remaining 57 Su-27 (SK or UBK) are still soldiering on within PLAAF? Or have some other Su-27s been retired as well?

3rd batch of Su-27UBK should be soldiering on for sometime. The R-77 compatibility should make them usefull in combat (and maybe even keep earlier batches purely for training too) but the Su-27SK is unknown. 36 Su-27SK were bought and I have a feeling they have been scrapped and engines divereted to the J-15 program (ski-jump version).

But do we know anything about the second batch? 26 airframes, if I am not mistaken? Was it retired already or is it still soldiering on?
