Were these also old J-11D pics from last year or years earlier?

None of them are recent. The first looks like PSed to boot. I think some people are getting overly excited over an AVIC Shenyang promo video that contains some historical footage. Don't read too much into it.

IMO the first one is real, we've seen several of those similar blurred image from last year's September (?) ... however IMO the image in the second row seems psed, since the radar / radome seems to be larger than in any other images and the tilt is in the wrong direction. Maybe it's the J-11B-AESA testbed for the J-16?

Anyway I beg You all not to re-post - at least without thinking and checking twice - anything from PDF and esp. from certain special members.

I second Deino's post above:

1) Information posted on PDF/Defence.pk should be regarded with extra suspicion because fidelity to factual accuracy is sadly not on PDF's list of priorities.

2) Anything posted by "grey boy 2" at PDF should be regarded as fanboy fabrication, wild exaggeration, and outright misinformation until proven otherwise.

I'm less interested in the J-11D. But more interested if there is a MLU program in China to refit the existing Flanker fleet with AESA radar and other modern sub-systems. That is a more worth while effort than the J-11D. You can not only upgrade the older planes but you can also build new ones based on the upgrades.

I find

20 J-16 + 4 J-16D same number than J-11 units.

Not sure, why there's so much quoting Sina lately ???... IMO You can find nearly everything and most of all a lot of crap too.

Given that so far only two J-16D are in test I cannot think that the J-16 brigades we know operational have already 4 J-16D.

careful their master Forbin, best not to get on the "Charles Xavier" of the SDF's bad side??? really, he teaches school all week long?? does tend at times to build frustration, and he obviously expects his SDF students to "get their work" at a reliable source, use quotation marks, and cite their sources?? LOL
