Quickie

Colonel
The J-11BS in the video did make a quick half turn that was only slightly slower than the smaller J-10A/B, if not the same speed. Also, the slow full turn could be intentional to show low speed handling capability.

Did anyone notice that the reporter confirmed that the J-11B is capable of air-to-ground and air-to-sea strikes? It's probably the first time there is official confirmation of the J-11B's alleged multirole capabilities.

Probably poor reporting on their part, AKA a mistake. We have too much cumulative lack of evidence over the last few years to suggest that J-11B/BS has A2G (aka PGM) capability.

The most glaring evidence by absence is never seeing J-11B/BS ever participate in any A2G exercises (for which we have many pictures for other planes with A2G roles) or ever even seeing any A2G munitions or load outs with the J-11 despite the number of years they've been in service.

Unless both the reporter and the flanker pilot make the same mistake. The J-11BS does have A2G capabilities right now. At 2:30 mintues mark of the video, the flanker pilot says there is a breakthrough with A2G capabilities for the J-11B/BS. And now it can carry some of the new variant of the A2G munitions.

Oh okay, if it is the pilot saying so then there could be more credence given to it, especially if it is described as a recent development.

I didn't watch the actual video, so I'm just going off what you are all saying.

I went back to the video and watch it the second time after I read the replies by you and latenlazy to make sure it was just the CCTV reporter. I thought you guys were right until the 2:30 mark the flanker pilot confirms what the reporter says.

He didn't say Air to sea though, just said breakthough in A2G. And now it can carry some of the new variant of the A2G missile(s). The reporter is the one says air, ground and sea strikes.
