Yuzheng-311 is in Paracel Islands,she is sometimes to Nansha island.China should build more these vessels.

From Huangpu shipyard. Haijian-75 launched a while ago when the 5th 054A from there launched. It looks like Haijian-23 got launched recently and it is about the same size as Haijian-75. Looks like Haijian has quite the program going. And it's amazing how many cutters are getting pumped out these days from Wuchang and HP shipyard.

Someone did a tally of all the larger cutters in Haijian a while ago and here is the look.

You can see the ship's belonging to the North Sea, East Sea and South Sea. If you can't read Chinese, then the number is basically the number of the ship and the other number is the displacement. For example,

represents Haijian81 and has displacement of 4435 ton.
And they are currently in the second wave of building 1 3000 ton, 2 1500 ton and 4 1000 ton type II cutters. Of which, I think Haijian 23 and 75 are the 1000 ton class. And Wuchang is building Haijian 15 right now.

The third wave consists of 3 5000 ton, 3 4500 ton, 4 3000 ton, 6 2000 ton, 16 1500 ton and 14 1000 ton class. Basically, this is really getting a huge build up.

With the growth of aggression of Japanese coast guard vessels, I think China is right to equip its Yuzheng ships with weapon. But the 14.5 guns seem a little too small, I'd suggest them to fit a single barrel 30mm cannon instead.

yes,not only the gun,China should build more large coast guard vessels.

interesting, Chinese famous magazine < Naval & Merchant Ship> 舰船知识 published a photo of Yuzheng 202, and illustrate she on the water of Diaoyudao Islands cruise.

Even a quad set of 14.5 mm heavy machine guns are not really that intimidating.

They should have equipped them with heavier armament - maybe some left-over twin 37 mm AAA guns like those on the Luda and Jiangwei vessels.

That way they would have some degree of organic anti-air and anti-missile capability - and still have considerable anti-ship punch.

Mounting something heavier - like a 57 mm or 76 mm gun would be more suitable but it would definitely cross the line as to a Coast Guard mission.

How about a AK-630 like those on the Hubei class FAC. Or would that be over the line too?
I think it could still be devastating on smaller ships.

Why would it cross the line of a CG mission? USCGC Hamilton has an Otobreda 76 mm.

I think 37 mm would be fine, but AK-630 or 76 mm would be considered too hostile in a region like East Asia where neighbouring countries are already feeling uncomfortable with China's rise.

I wondered why they havn't installed an automated gun, but maybe they might have done it deliberately so they can always customise to heavier guns easier if the situation demands it.
