    Looks fantastic, looking forward to seeing more on the deck.

    Still wish we could have seen them in CTOL form, when Liam Fox made the change I really hoped it would come off.

    The choice was one CTOL carrier or two STOVL carriers. The budget wouldn't stretch to anything else. I think we made the right Choice. The French found out the hard way one carrier only gives you a part time capability, as the ship will have to go in for refit sooner or later and then you're screwed if you need it. With only a single carrier, less aircraft would be needed and the government was seriously talking about limiting the buy of F-35Cs to 48! Impressive ship but singular and vulnerable. cv1a.jpg

    Apparently you are unaware of a CVNs ablity to conduct humanitarian operations;

    PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 20, 2013) An MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter from the Saberhawks of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 77 prepares to land on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) after airlifting relief supplies ashore in support of Operation Damayan. The George Washington Carrier Strike Group in coordination with Joint Task Force 505 personnel is assisting the Philippine government in ongoing relief efforts in response to the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Republic of the Philippines. Indian Ocean (Jan. 1, 2005)- Seahawk helicopters from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Two (HS-2) Golden Falcons and Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light Squadron Forty-Seven (HSL-47) Saberhawks depart USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) en route to Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia. The helicopters are transporting supplies, bringing in disaster relief teams and supporting humanitarian airlifts to Tsunami-stricken coastal regions. There are many photos,3600+, on navy.mil of US Navy Humanitarian relief efforts.

    During these humanitarian relief missions clean potable water is the #1 need. A Nimitz class can produce 400,000 gallons(1,514,164.7 Liters) of water a day.

    Thanks for posting Jura. This photo shows the fan boi's what a carrier hangar deck is like under operational conditions. Look at all that extra but necessary gear in there. When uninformed persons make drawings of carriers with aircrfat crammed in the hangar they make no account of the support gear needed.
