Yeeaahh but the record in war time here 4 during WWII TF 38 and 58 rattached to 3rd and 5th Fleet have 16 - 18 CVs, CVLs in 4 TG !!! with about 1000 birds in more 7th Fleet had by ex to Leyte 18 CVLs with about 500 birds
In 1991 USN had 16 carriers : 2 Midway + 4 Forrestal + 4 Kitty Hawk/Kennedy + 1 Enterprise + 5 Nimitz the 600 ships navy in fact USN had IIRC 570 had actualy 285 for a 308 ships Navy waiting the 355
Desert Storm : 6 deployed these 4 plus USS Eisenhower, CVN-69, USS John Kennedy, CV-67 one other the first arrived in 08/1990 left few weeks before USS Independence, CV-62 all with 5 VA/VFAs except Midway 4 with
