Tanzanian Air Force orders two H225 transport helicopters from Airbus Helicopters

It appears that the Tanzania Air Force may have ordered for two H225 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters. The first of the two Airbus H225 transport helicopter was seen passing through Valencia, Spain, on 6 September and Faro, Portugal on 7 September.

A source close to Airbus Helicopters disclosed that the H225 helicopter was likely returned to the factory and will be delivered to a private operator in Tanzania, although Airbus Helicopters could not provide additional information.

The helicopter seen last month was identified by the test registration F-WWOT with the serial 5H-TAF taped over. ‘Tanzania Air Force’ was clearly written on the tail boom.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Tanzania ordered two H215 Cougar and two H225 Super Cougar helicopters in 2017.

Kenyan Air Force acquires H125 Écureuil and an AS550C3 Fennec (H125M) from Airbus Helicopter

POSTED BY: PATRICK KENYETTE OCTOBER 17, 2018

The Kenyan Air Force (KAF) has acquired H125 Écureuil and an AS550C3 Fennec (H125M) from Airbus Helicopter. This was revealed during the October 14th Kenya Defence Forces Day (KDF).

President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Kenyatta Barracks in Gilgil, north of Nairobi, where he was shown an AS350B3 Écureuil (now H125) and an AS550C3 Fennec (H125M). Both types of helicopter were painted in the same dark green scheme used by the UAE Armed Forces.

Several new Fennecs were previously seen in a ceremony held on 14 September, when the KDF announced that nine of the helicopters had been donated by the UAE. Although there were no mention of any Écureuils.

It was also confirmed during Kenyatta’s visit to Gilgil that the UAE has transferred weapons as part of the package as the Fennec was displayed with a seven-round 70 mm rocket launcher mounted on one hardpoint and a 7.62 mm M134D Minigun on the other.

The helicopter’s avionics suite included a large screen on the left side of the cockpit’s instrument panel, likely used for controlling the electro-optical turret fitted to the aircraft when in service with the UAE’s military. The AS350B3’s instrument console did not have this screen.

Pilots told Kenyatta during his visit that the helicopters are capable of conducting operations at night, suggesting the KAF has received the electro-optical systems and/or night vision goggles.

The Kenyan Air Force has also placed order for six armed MD 530F Cayuse Warrior attack helicopters

Africa's First AESA Radar Equipped Fighter Jets? Morocco Mulls Order for Elite F-16V Vipers from the United States

Alongside a large order for 220 Abrams tanks, acquired refurbished from the United States under the U.S. Army’s Excess Defence Articles Program, Morocco’s armed forces are reportedly considering the acquisition of a dozen elite variants of the F-16 Fighting Falcon - known as the F-16V ‘Viper.’ The Moroccan Air Force received 24 F-16C fighters from 2011-2012, many of which were twin seat F-16D trainer variants, and the Fighting Falcon today forms the mainstay of the country’s aerial warfare capabilities. The North African kingdom also fields a sizeable fleet of F-5E Tiger twin engine light fighters, a platform dating back to the Vietnam War which has since been extensively upgraded and is prized for its versatility and extremely low maintenance requirements.

The Egyptian Air Force is turning out to look a lot like the Indian Air Force. A wide variety of combat aircraft in it's inventory. From F-16 Fighting Falcons, to F-4 Phantom lls, to Mirage-2000s, Rafales, Mirage Vs, MiG-35 Fulcrum, Chengdu F-7, Su-35 Flanker-H and Alpha Jets. They're all over the map!
