I am little new to this section but does China utilize shotguns in their military doctrine in any way since I see a lot done in the sub machine gun and the assault rifle and even the handgun side of things but I haven’t really heard much about shotguns.
From what I have seen, shotguns are used among PLA/PAP recon or SOF teams along with SWAT of course. The reason for the former is most likely that China’s current SOF and recon teams are expected to engage in extremely close quarters like their predecessors did in Vietnam. That is also the reason why you see many of them using silenced submachine guns. If anyone else has a more definitive answer, please correct me.
